The Future of Lawn Care: Lawns That Take Care of Themselves?

20-April-2009

Hello,

Welcome to the first Bulletproof Lawn Success Blog! This Blog is devoted to you, the homeowner, to help you cultivate a beautiful, green lawn using environmentally friendly principles and help you save money in the doing!

Our blog will focus on two main themes:

-Today, help homeowners fix common problems (weeds, insects, etc..) once and for all by attacking the root causes.

-The future, 'Where is lawn care going?' With all the environmental pressures (use less water, use less fertilizer and mow less often) it's easy to see a path that would be ideal for all.

When we speak of common problems in our yards, let's take weeds for example. If your lawn has weeds, you'll most likely go out and buy a bag of weed n feed fertilizer or buy the weed killer in the bottle, and then apply it to your lawn. Well, now what? You may kill the weeds, but then what? Have you gotten rid of the weeds for good? Chances are pretty good that all you did was attack the symptoms of an underlying problem (in your case, weeds are the symptom).

In this blog, we will help you dig deeper and go after the root cause. For when you find the root cause and take necessary action, your weed problems can be fixed once and for all. So what do I mean about root causes, let's see?

-over and under fertilization (most weeds have different nutritional needs than grass)

-over watering (many weeds love excess water)

-thatch (this layer of dead, decaying grass is a haven for many unwanted things in your lawn)

-building a healthy soil (because in the end, your beautiful grass is a function of what's going on underneath the surface)

Where is the future of lawn care going? Well, with all the pressure on using less natural resources (water and fertilizer) and creating less carbon emissions (mow less often), lawns are being driven to take care of themselves!

A lawn that takes care of itself would exhibit the following attributes:

-rarely needs to be mowed (control surges and other growth factors, they do it with Bonsai trees!)

-rarely needs to be fertilized (preserve nutrients in the root zone, focus on balanced nutrition and recycle)

-rarely needs to be watered (preserve moisture in the root zone, optimize the health of the plant and soils to make the grass more robust...... a Bulletproof Lawn)

The Bulletproof Lawn company has several patents that put us on that path. In the coming weeks we will report on some exciting results that start to bring that ideal destination into focus.
